GORGE FLY SHOP PRODUCT REVIEW | ROSS REELS - SAN MIGUEL by John Garrett First thing I noticed when I took this reel out of the box was the beauty of the porting and the absolute smoothness of the free spool and the sweet clicking sound of the drag. The San Miguel is BEAUTIFUL! The new San Miguel incorporates modern machining and materials with all of the elements that made the original legendary. It sports a polished high-gloss black finish with a solid-backed frame, a butter-smooth free spool, a wide-range adjustable sealed drag, and the famous “flower petal” porting. 
The New Ross San Miguel introduces modern features such as the Canvas Micarta handle, a material used in expensive custom knives to improve grip when wet. The precision sealed drag system consists of a carbon/stainless steel stack-up, which translates to a powerful yet smooth resistance. The large-arbor spool is accompanied by the machined stainless steel push-button release that looks as good and is easy to remove.
