World Class Trout Fishing – Kiwi Edition

Fly Fishing from Cedar Lodge

New Zealand’s reputation for the best sight fishing for big trout is well deserved. Fishing waters here vary from mountain streams, spring creeks, meadows and prolific lakes. While fishing with a dry fly, I caught a huge rainbow that later was mistakenly identified as a nice winter steelhead. As an angler one doesn’t have to be world class—just opportunistic. By the way I have yet to catch a winter fish on a parachute Adams. Following are brief descriptions of two of the first class lodges in New Zealand.
