Charlie's Gift Ideas

Stocking Stuffer

The boater's guide is a must-have item for anyone that floats the Lower Deschutes. It contains a detailed map of all the named campsites, significant white water and mileage. Beyond that, it's just a great read. The Lower D has a long and interesting history, and the guide offers a great cursory view of its notable events. Perfect for reading with a headlamp during a beautiful night on the river!

Mid-Priced

These boots are my standard footwear from about the middle of October until it quits raining in the spring. They're waterproof, comfortable and the bottom provides plenty of grip on wet and icey terrain. This is the ideal boot to slip on after fishing or for a snowy run to the grocery store.

Top of the Line

RX reels absolutely set the bar for smoothness. They are beautifully machined and have a minutely adjustable drag. Available in trout sizes on up to saltwater big game, the RX is one of the finest reels out there today. Not to mention, the green color option pairs perfectly with a Winston rod!

Join Harris Anglers for Deschutes Summer Steelhead

On a normal year you'd have a hard time finding a Deschutes trout and steelhead guide with open dates. This year is everything but normal.

We chatted with Todd Harris of Harris Anglers the other day. He has many open dates. Several day trip dates as well as some camp trip options for September and October.

A couple days on the river will go a long ways to bring some joy in your life and this is the guy that will help you find that joy.

Boaters Guides - Deschutes River and John Day River

The Deschutes River and John Day River are two most popular rivers locally to us to float, camp and fish. Winding through desert canyons, these two wild and scenic rivers provide some of the best recreation to those who embrace the rugged and wild habitat they flow through.

Compliled by the Prineville District BLM, it includes a general overview as well as section by section maps of the river. The maps are excellent & provide details on: Rapids, River Mile Markers, River Access (Reservation, Private & Public lands are indicated), Campsites, & Points of Interest. Full-color maps & photos; 11x6 inches, 41 pgs.

The John Day River Recreation Guise; Kimberly to Tumwater Falls. Spiral bound and printed on waterproof paper. This guide denotes boat ramps, rapids, river miles, Campsites, if fees are required and facilities. Written by the BLM

We do our best to keep both of these in stock at all times
