Do you geek out on fly lines or do you ask your local fly shop for a line recommendation. Either way one new line that you might want to pay attention to is the new Scientific Angler Amplitude Infinity. Here's why...
As the name implies...
While I am usually not an advocate for a "do all" line this new Infinity is about as close as one can get to an all around versatile fly line. But my positive nod doesn't tell the full story. Infinity not only is that versatile but actually is a line that will improve your casting and fishing skills.A lot of modern fly lines tend to have a sweet spot. Strip back to the right spot and the line loads your rod and feels good. Too short or too long and casting struggles begin. The Infinity Taper is designed to work well over a long area of the fly line. Short cast load well and medium length cast really don't feel any different. So whether you have 20' or 40' foot of line out the tip of your fly rod doesn't matter. It still cast and performs extremely well.
So how does this help you fish better
For starters you pay less attention to your line length and just get back to making solid, repeatable cast. You also have great ability to mend line letting you set up better drifts. It also lets you perform good roll cast.Infinity's Taper
The head taper of Infinity is long, ranging from 47' to 53' depending on line size. This length allows one to arialize cast for both accuracy and distance. It's also the reason for its excellent mending ability. The main mass of the taper is mostly in the forward position helping to create short load capability.Overweighted?
Not much! One half size over standard line weight. It's pretty common knowledge today that most fly lines are above AFFTA standards. That's not all bad all the time but not always necessary. Infinity, with its long head design will work well on a variety of modern rod actions. It carries enough weight in 30' to get your rod loaded while not being so overweight that it drops dead at 50'. Most modern rods will easily carry 50' of Infinity and well beyond.Designed with tradition in mind
In the modern era of chuck and shoot, Infinity is a refreshing change. It's a fishing line! Not just a parking lot showoff line. It mends when you need it to mend. It rolls when you need it to roll. It presents when you need a line to present. These are the reasons it'll make you a better angler. What else
Infinity is durable, slick, looped, high floating, built in line ID and is even offered in a stealthy camo tip. It's crafted with Scientific Anglers AST plus and comes in both Amplitude Textured as well as Amplitude Smooth. New for 2020 is Amplitude Infinity Salt for your tropical needs. So when you are ready to improve your fishing and your casting you might want to think about Infinity. There's a reason they call it the Infinity: there is no end to what you'll be able to do with it.
