RIO Euro Nymph Techniques, Lines, Leaders, Tippet

Euro Nymphing

Czeck, French, Polish, Spanish all sum up to the general term of Euro Nymphing. The variation between euro and traditional indicator fishing is euro doesn't use an indicator and it focuses more on drifting flies on at near bottom.
While the rigging's for this technique are endless and each will adapt to ones needs according to location and conditions there are however some specific products designed to get the most out of your equipment.

The Line

The RIO Euro Nymph Line features a level, ultra thin diameter, low stretch fly line with a highly visible tip for detecting subtle strikes. It's perfect for all styles of euro nymphing and competition legal.

Features -

  • XS Technology - Ultra Slick dirt repelling coating for maximum distance and performance
  • Ultra-thin, incredibly light line for the utmost in sensitivity
  • Approved and endorsed by FIPS Mouche as "Competition Legal"
  • Highly visible tip for detecting the subtlest of takes
  • Built on a supple, low-stretch core
  • Front and rear welded loops

The Leader

RIO Euro Nymph Leader is strong and subtle at the same time. It features a milky white color to aid in visibility. On the tippet end it features a highly visible two tone indicator tippet leading to a tippet ring. Just tie on to the tippet ring your favorite tippet and fly and start fishing.

The "Sighter"

Standard indicators are not sensitive enough for euro nymph techniques. I better approach is using the RIO Two Tone Indicator Tippet at the water level you are fishing. You can also easily create your own slinky style indicator using this same tippet. Here is a great video featuring Simon Gawesworth on how to create a slinky indicator.

Need More...

Russ Miller from RIO explains in this next video a couple situations in which euro nymph techniques can be utilized. Much great info here and definitely worth a watch.
