Indicator lines really take the work out of angling with nymph indicator, multi fly rigs. What is important to know is there are 2 types of lines depending on your purpose. The basic difference is short head or long head.

The RIO InTouch Xtreme Indicator is a short head line and is designed primarily to be use for short casting from boat situations. It can easily be dropped on the water in your backcast while it lifts easy and carries your forward cast with plenty of authority for turnover.

Xtreme Indicator also features a rear taper handling section which aids in mend-ability. The tip is colored orange for easy visibility and the end of the head junction into rear taper is also marked with a color change to help easily identify optimum loading point for strong cast.

Xtreme Indicator lines work really well on fast and ultra fast rods. I've personally use this line on a Sage Method fly rod. The combination is absolute authority of a indicator rig.

An example of a long head design line is the RIO InTouch Trout/Steelhead Indicator. Long head indicator lines provide long distance line control and mending due to an extended head length. This type of line is favored by wade anglers. While the word indicator is in the title it does not have to be used as such. It proves to be very effective at casting and controlling a variety of flies from traditional steelhead patterns up to weighted streamer and intruder type patterns.
