Living the Dream in Mongolia

A dream fish on a blue bird day
Last year I was contacted by three longtime pals about a fishing trip. All college professors and ardent anglers, they were hoping to combine a fishing adventure with their existing travel plans to China. It was a little too late in the season for Kamchatka, so immediately I started studying options for Mongolia. Lo and behold, there were three remaining spots left for a week of Taimen fishing in the Mongolian outback, which fit near perfectly with their schedule.

Rustic Comfort

I just love my job when things come together and adventures are created and shared among friends. As it turned out, the week was a great success, with both the fish and weather gods shining down over the river valley this last week in September.

A great fish on a dry fly!

Over the course of their stay, Doug, Ron and Jacek swung streamers, as well as skated and dead drifted dry flies for big, native Taimen. Fishing with Matt Ramsey, one of the most respected Taimen Guides in the world, these guys explored this remote river by jet boat and covered the water with both single hand and two-handed fly rods. They certainly found some fish, and I can only imagine what else they may have learned along the way.  It just so happened that Mongolia was the perfect fit for them.  If you are looking for your perfect trip, drop a line anytime and we'll make it happen!
