Lots of confusion over this new model compared to the original ARX Reel. It Looks like the same reel in a new finish. Well it mostly is just that. All the size dimensions remained the same and spools will interchange.
Fact is the reel really didn't need to physically change. It already has proven internals and great features for the spey angler.
ARX is a full frame reel. Very good feature for spey especially with nylon monofilament running lines. ARX also features a narrow frame area near bottom side of spool that allows for spool rim palming.
While ARX looks and feels lightweight it actually has some bulk for strength and balance weight.
A feature I really like on all Lamson reels is the machined into spool counterbalance weight. This feature really cleans up a reels look and helps minimize unnecessary, bolt on, parts.
Arx is a purpose-built premium spey and switch reel. Stealth profile and full-cage design prevents line from escaping or snagging on the reel. S-Line brings a new orange and champagne color scheme as well as refreshed styling. Manufactured in the U.S.A. and assembled in Boise, Idaho.
